The lack of highly qualified teachers and trainers who can perform well in the sector of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is a pervasive phenomenon in emerging economies in the ASEAN region. Teaching staff not only directly influences the quality of the workforce but also have direct impact on additional functions such as social integration and the support of regional learning and innovation processes. This presupposes that teaching personnel are at the highest technical and vocational pedagogic levels and are quickly available in order to respond to the requirements of the economic and educational reform goals.
The RCP is a network with managed membership that serves mainly universities involved in Vocational Teacher Education (VTE) in the ASEAN region and China. Founded in 2009, at the present the platform incorporates VTE and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the region through the exchange of experiences, the development of programmes and conducting common research projects. It is the goal of the RCP members to facilitate innovative VTE developments in line with socioeconomic developments in their countries and the needs of industry. Due to the unique regional combination of the Asian perspective with German know-how in TVET and VTE, RCP will merge academic and practical know-how to initiate reform processes in the TVET sector in the ASEAN region and China.
